L’art sur l’art

Art about art. Museums becoming the subject.

Art for everyone, from the roundabout to the museum. A way out of the cave.

Joris Baudoin brings art into public space and takes the museum back outside. What he sees, he passes on: in words, in concrete and in an object that lights up an idea.

Looking and passing it on

Watching Man

Since 2014, Joris Baudoin has visited around 130 European museums of contemporary art as Watching Man. Looking became a practice. Museale Beelden became a 459-page book without a single image.

The visits before 2021 are described in that book. New works are based on the works in the museums.

03

The museum as subject and material

Museum blocks

The museum becomes a sculpture in its own right. In concrete, a visit takes another form: not a report, but a response.

04

A century, one object

A Banana with an Idea

A century of conceptual art in a single banana. And the light works.

Duchamp, Beuys and Cattelan meet in one object. Art refers to art and becomes something to look at anew.
